SEO tips for ecommerce - earn free publicity!

Sorry, just posted this in the wrong topic area, so here it is again...

Hi all,

I'm writing a feature for the magazine 'Multi-Channel Marketing' on SEO, and would like to incorporate tips from different SEO experts.

If your tip goes in it would obviously be valuable coverage!

I am looking for fairly in-depth tips. These should be aimed at ecommerce retailers (and preferably be things they can look at straight away).

For instance, one will be to pay attention to the <H1> headers on every page. (It will obviously go into this in more detail.)

The feature will be aimed at marketing professionals with a hands-on understanding of their ecommerce site, who may only just be becoming aware of the importance of SEO.

So the forum's open..... any ideas welcome.

I will, of course, include your name and company, and post you a photocopy of the article after publication, for any tips I use.

Thanks very much!
Anna

Hi Copyqueen - here's a quick, but often overlooked, tip for good SEO:

Remember to use descriptive text (and titles) for all your internal links - i.e. don't say 'click here for the latest fashions' (with the link on 'click here') - it's far better from an SEO point of view to say 'view our latest fashions' with the link on 'latest fashions'. That way the destination page benefits from not only having a link point towards it, but from having keywords associated with that link.

Hope this is helpful,

David

Ooh, my thread is being hi-jacked!

Thanks for the tips everyone, and David that's an interesting one. What's your company name? I will probably include it, so shall PM you with the draft at some point next week.

thanks again
