This is so useful really. Thanks for sharing with us. Can I ask you a doubt? Back link investigation, do we need it still?
Well, I've met people who still believe SEO is mostly is all about backlinks... It's hard to say if they matter, although backlinks from a high authority resource won't do any harm ;) Anyway, I mostly use Ahrefs and Majestic to check the keywords competitors use. This is especially useful if the subject is sort of "narrow" :)

Good list Jack but I definitely wouldn't recommend using My Blog Guest these days as that site got hammered by Google when they came down hard on guest blog spamming. The site doesn't even rank if you search for "my blog guest" and associated sites got penalised too.

Best to avoid using that one.
Thank you very much for this correction. To be honest, I myself used it ages ago, it must have been on the list for a while. Unfortunately I can't remove it from the list here in the thread, because the editing option seems to be inactive :(

Are you serious?
Backlinks are still by far the most influential factor in ranking a site. Have a look at the SEO moz Search Engine Ranking Factors 2015. So not only backling won't hurt but they are necessary
