Hi guys, guess I'm the new kid on the block... Anyway so basically I'm having trouble with white hat methods of SEO. I understand the ways of blogging and squidoo, keyword density, competitive keywords and such BUT its the backlinking which I'm having trouble with. I mean I've read how now sig links don't really work these days, yes you will get a domain but all those posts won't get you far, so how am I supposed to get my juice up with out buying links? float around to a load of dofollow forums post a sig and get out of there? I'm not looking for anyway get juice quick scheme, I just need to know of a method and how to go about it. K-Pax

A few more...

  • Commenting on other blogs
Make sure the comment is of value to the article. Blogs that use the CommentLuv plugin display your latest blog post after your comment.

  • Link to other (quality) content
Linking out to other blogs will 'ping' that blog telling them you've linked to them. If you've linked from a quality article, they may be inclined to return the favour.

  • Including a link to your site wherever you can
Links from forum signatures, emails signatures, some social media, etc may not let search engines follow your link, but they still increase traffic resulting in more people seeing your content who could link to you.

Ultimately it will take time. Write quality content, promote it as much as you can, join in discussions on forums and blogs related to your niche (or complimentary to it) and over time links should start to come in.

.

I would classify forum signatures as "black hat" although I accept the line between black hat and white hat is blurry............grey even :)

I suppose you could argue that forum signatures are black hat if you aren't actually signing up to that forum to participate in the community.

Thanks, you were all very helpful, I have a published a squidoo page and linked the keywords I'm using back to my site but when I use seomoz to see inbound links I'm not saying any from squidoo. Also in fact I've dropped from top of google page 2 to top of page 3!?

Links from Squidoo pages were devalued at the start of the Panda updates, it's not to say they don't carry any weight, it's just the weight passed was reduced.

The data could take up to two months to appear in SEOmoz's tools also.

Right first of all I had forgot to check "pages in the uk" panic over.... I'm thinking about creating a blog on blogger focusing around my keywords I understand they have nofollow as default and it can be changed to dofollow so whats the weighting like on that platform or can you suggest any other useful type of platform? I have not heard that word in a while...''Noob'' never mind. Creating useful content will gain you backlinks naturally if you have the time, patients and skill of writing very good linkworthy content.

Is keywordluv really as good as it sounds?

It can be, depending on your reasons for its use.

The premium version of CommentLuv is the one to go for (this includes KeywordLuv) and contains many other neat comment related features along with flexibility.

Statistically, use of such plugins do attract more commenters... And with it, much more spam.
