SEO guide please

Hi

I have a web site selling jewellery and advertise on Ad words, but I wanted for some time to use another company for the natural listening. The keywords I want to be listed are very competitive and believe its a bit of a job to get listed on the first page, although Goggle has indexed my site but we get 0 on page rank. My question is how do choose a SEO company ? I am getting at list one phone call a day from an SEO company to offer there service, and prices ranging from £200 a year to £500 a month for each keyword and 6 month minimum contract. Should I just take any company and see how it works out?

 

First learn the basics yourself. So then you have a platform from which to judge professional efforts - without which you can and will probably be fleeced.

You can get the basics by learning how to use market samurai (free trial) - there are good videos to explain how ito use it f you sign up on www.thirtydaychallenge.com (equally free)

In almost every market there is there are long tailed terms you can get easy rankings quickly....and if you structure it right, you can channel that into more competitive terms

What are the search terms you are targeting?
Do you sell just to the UK market or can you ship internationally?

Let me know and I'll research just how competative the search terms are
and give you an idea of how hard these would be to rank for.

If you've got a bit of cash have a look at St omper net, its a faculty of the best seo gurus on the planet. I've been a full member for a while now, which costs a bomb, but pocket change compared to the profits i make using their techniques. Whats you site? I'll give it a quick look and see if anything obvious to be done

Do you know if Andy J is still offering Stomping 2 free with subscriptions to NetEffect?? That was a disaster.
But SSE2 was a really good introduction by Dan Thies

Bombarded - absolutely. Havent looked at any of them

There was a reasonable introduction to F5 recorded at stomper live last year - saw the replay, so have an idea what it is about.

you want to advertise on Ad words as you are also saying that keyword is very competetive and you also want first page sure go thourgh a seo company who are best track record in ranking and see how they are managing your goal if it is in right direction you can continue .

Before listening to price you should understand your industry value.
The companies that quoted you anything less than £500 a month should be ignored with out a doubt as they have obviously not looked at your industry at all.
You have done PPC. Ask your self how much did you spend on adword in one month.
In jewellery competition is high. Expect to spend at £10,000 on SEO, links and
copy in the first year.
Once you have page one results monthly maintenance can be negotiated.

I can't beleive in the good effects of SEO companies. I tell you why! The getting of incomming links for your website is not an easy work. You have to find the relevant websites and discuss the details of link-exchange procedure with the web masters. If you are not a spammer and send your totally unique E-mail to the webmasters their responses will be max. 2 from 10 sent out E-mails. So the rate of success is only about 20 percent and the time consuption really high. According to my opinion for the good search engine rankings if your relevant keywords are really competitive the time consuption is minimum 5 - 6 hours / day and you'll see the results after several months. If you can agree this FACT I ask you: do you have any idea about the numbers of the clients of a SEO company? In general a SEO company has more than 100 clients. So they can give to you from their rich time max. 4 or 5 minutes / day. Paying for a SEO companies is money vasting except the contract include the numbers of working hours and you can get something proof about this state of affairs. Before you pay to any SEO company be carful with their contract. You should require the BCC about their mailings with other webmasters.
