Hi

Can anyone provide tips on SEO for our website? The URL is sideorder.co.uk

The Google Page Rank is low, I've carefully added ALT descriptions and title tags where needed but I cannot improve the Page Rank.

Thanks in advance

Nice site.

Don't get too hung up on PageRank. You are better off identifying the keywords and phrases that you want your site to rank well for and then concentrating on improving your ranking.

Download WebCEO, it's free and will allow you to track your sites ranking in the major search engines. That way you can see, over time, how changes to your site are effecting your rank.

Firstly forget about pagerank - Google Page Rank is essentially pointless!

As Matt has mentioned if you can identify competative keywords (both short and longtail) this will start giving you an idea of how to improve your site and get better rankings which will, in turn provide more visitors.

In terms of your website:

  • Its badly coded
  • Your title tags are way too long!
  • Each page should have unique title tags and description metas
  • Your site uses an internal scroll bar for navigation (this is likely to cause problems with indexing)
  • There is poor use of correct html syntax
Hope that provides some initial pointers!

Just run a quick check and apart from "city or town" takeaway the only others it chucks up are "chinese takeaways" or "pizza takeaways" any other result is so low they can not provide any data for the keyword apart from it was used at some time!!!!

The thing that hits me between the eyes when I land on your site is I haven't a clue what you do or what your offering is. You made me think, I hit the back button.

Why is this relevant to a question about SEO? Well you could waste time generating traffic that simply bounces.

Read Sabians points as well.

I thought it was a recipe site. Red is right I am not exactly sure the design is correct. There is by no means a way of your visitors immediately knowing what they have landed on.

I had to look at your title tag to find out.

p.s. Sabians points are good ones.

Site looks really nice. :)

You need to concentrate on making website helpful for end users and not search engines. Search engines are just a medium through which visitors will land up on your website. It is just a bridge. Do not try to make search engines your visitor.
