Hi all,
Does anyone have Experience sending parcels to Russia.
I have a 17 kg parcel to send to Russia and not sure the best way to do this.
I have read some scary stories that most companies wont deliver to domestic addresses and may need customs declaration, also they need an import license to receive parcel?

I am concerned, as it is a bit risky and the parcel may get returned?

Any help would be appreciated

Alex

I would suggest that you send it via a tracked service with compensation cover but the key thing is the correct information being on the CN22 customs declaration sticker on the parcel. It needs to describe exactly what the parcel contains and if it does then there should be no problem.

The tracked/compensation service I use to send parcels to Russia would cost £47 this 17kg parcel.

Definitely get cover..customs in Russia can be a nightmare, we have issues sending in and out of Russia with items going missing (even large servers!)

We sent tender documents in January this year, related to next year's Winter Olympics, to a government department in Russia. Last Thursday, just over 5 months later, they were all returned to us. We don't even understand the returns labels and scribblings on the envelope as they are of course in Russian!

I have emailed the contact in Russia to whom we originally submitted the tender ( we did communicate quite regularly in January) with a scanned copy of the return envelope so he knows the reason I was returned but I have not heard back so far. . Although we also sent everything electronically we have no idea whether them not having the hard copy will jeopardise our chances which is really frustrating!

Speak to someone like DSV who have dedicated staff for each country they serve - they will know the requirements, and more importantly what and what not to do, and will quote you fairly competitive rates for a package of that size against DHL, FedEx etc.

We use DSV regularly - they are not suitable for small shipments like 17kg, the price will be in excess of £200 and it is only to Moscow customs terminal. The charges there are unlimited, incl handling and tax, and also the receiver would have to arrange their own transport to wherever they are.

talk to me about your needs and I will be happy to help - we ship to Russia every week consolidated.

Hi Alex,

I have many clients who use JagPost from Jag UFS (International) and this is the postage service that I quoted the £47 for.

JagPost specialise in providing postage for online sellers and what they do is save people on postage versus using Royal Mail but provide the same delivery times/service. The tracked service that I quoted £47 for though is based on a courier-type service as RM standard airmail only goes up to 2KG and so RM users have to use RM Airsure/ISF which my Clients tell me are poor products in terms of "viibility".

To check them out either go to the JagPost website (co uk) or PM me. Parent Company is JAGUFS (com)

I do not use them personally as I have nothing to send as I am an e-retail consultant but I have many online seller Clients so are very happy with them in terms of the prices and service.

Regards,
Kevin
