Haven't sent anything 'abroad' for years!

Idiots guide needed for sending a single consignment - 20k box to Ireland, customs charges etc.,?

Trying to get through to Parcelforce who we use for UK deliveries but need a quick answer before accepting an order.

Include customs declaration and attach invoice to the outside. Put the right HS code on.

Don't charge VAT, and the recipient will have to pay Irish VAT + handling (around 10-15 eur), plus any duty, if applicable. You may be able to send DDP to Ireland where you pay the tax, and it saves them the handling fee.

If you go with ParcelForce, then worth checking whether the HS codes for goods you're sending are on the list here:
I know it's a Royal Mail list, but we were told An Post still process ParcelForce so anything that falls foul of the "restrictions" will be returned - the fact the restrictions are supposed to just apply to IOSS items is BS - it's any method. More info here:

You might be best to heck out a parcel broker for ad hoc stuff, eg:

Duty applies to goods value over 150 EUR only. Beware if you have more than 5 custom lines (different HS code AND countries), then UPS, DHL, Fedex etc will charge a "multi-line fee" typically 5 EUR per line. Note that ParcelForce doesn't have this restriction.
