Hi,

I have interest from consumers in the USA for products I manufacture in the uk.

However, my insurance policy (product liability) does not include sale to the usa (high risk).

Is there any way I can sell to them, maybe by making them sign a product liability waiver?

Thanks!

You can get insurance.

We have it subject to conditions. For us USA sales must be less than 5% of total turnover and liability is limited to £2m.

We only pay £100 extra pa to have it.

You can't get them to sign a waiver because it is a statutory requirement and enforceable (I don't know how) in the UK.

As your UK based your almost certainly best off getting a different policy here that will cover you - check cancellation clauses of your existing policy before committing to buy a new one.

Another option would be to buy a policy in the states but their insurance law is massively more complex than the UK and not worth getting into if you can avoid it.
