Selling Unused Software

Hi

We purchased some software that my manager no longer wishes to use. He wants to return it but its outside of the 30day return period and the supplier says there is a newer version so they can't re sell it. But is there any law that says we can't sell it to off set the cost and pay off the difference. They are saying the licence is in our name but surely its not hard to change a licence to the name of the new owner, we never even opened it up so its not registered or activated. Help!

It depends on the license terms. With some software you cannot reseller or transfer the license as you don't actually own the software but only have a right to use it.

Sorry, not sure about Sage specifically. I suspect though that you can't resell it.

Well done as Sage's software is not resellable as you are only purchasing a license to use the software.
