Selling to councils / home improvements

Hello all,

I am wondering if someone can help please? I have a product that falls into the 'daily living aids' category (which can be very useful for those with limited mobility).

The product is an LED bulb with a remote control. Using the remote control, the user can switch the bulb on and off, adjust the brightness, amend the colour temperature and activate night mode. One key benefit of this kit is that there is no wiring required (simply replace your existing bulb with this one).

My question is that I am aware that councils have home improvement / development programmes. Which department within the council would look after this and what would be the best way to get in touch with them?

Any advise / assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Oodya

I've got one of those smart bulbs and they are quite cool. I'm not sure whether they would be deemed a luxury by the council or not. However, it's worth a shot.

I don't have experience in this area but a little Googling has shown me that the councils have their own repair teams so nothing is centralised. That could be a good thing because it means you have many possible opportunities with each council.

Looking at the Birmingham City Council site there is a number to call for Housing Repairs. Give that a shot first and see what they say. You can then rinse and repeat.

Good luck.

Have you thought of non council housing? Not every council has housing there are a lot of social landlords however.
Or could try selling to the disability aids shops.

Not sure how one led bulb impacts mobility but go ahead. If you can sell it as an improvement for someone then it will be purchased by someone.
