Hi,

We run a small AirBnB on site, in a village that has a pub, but no convenience store for a couple of miles. We were thinking of offering guests the ability to purhcase packaged groceries (just the basics) that we would purchase from, say Bookers, or more likley the local supermarket. It is not intende to make a lot of money, bit more a convenience as a USP. I can find the requirements if we want to sell alcohol, and of course, if he wanted to proivide prepared meals (which we don't as we offer self contained accommodation); but can't find anything on general groceries.

Does anyone know where I can find the information?

Thanks in advance.

Can’t help you out re your question on groceries, but from experience personally I would suggest why not simply offer a welcome pack, say bread, margarine, wine etc on arrival and cover it in your room fee?

I just do not see the profit or convenience of such a grocery service, but a free welcome pack would engage such feelings, just IMO.

Thanks MBE. We do provide a welcome pack and it is factored into the price. Most of our guests tend to stay a week to 10 days, and we have had a quite a few comments that having some essential supplies would be welcome. Most common is booze (although that is definitely not worth the touble), soft drinks, bottled water, nibbles (crisps, chocolates, etc), and even sausages (frozen is all I would do). Definitely not to make money, and not convenient to us. but apparently convenient to the guests and I always like to keep ahead of the competition (there is a lot where I am).

All I would suggest is make it an optional extra for the guests to purchase through the OTA when booking the accommodation. Ie £30 of groceries etc
