Selling my stock(mainly headphones) closed ebay store

Hi,

I've been looking for ways to liquidate all my stock. I used to have an ebay shop selling used electronics(a very larger amount of gaming headphones and other electronics) and anything I could make a profit on. I bought a significant amount of customer returns from a major online retailer.

I have a 1000sq ft storage unit full of stock with half of the stock being untested. I can't sell them on ebay because I just don't have the time anymore.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean you don't have time? Just dedicate a day to listing your stock, and get it sold. What's the problem? Or use a few hours of an evening for a few nights...

I have a fair number of items (over a thousand I reckon ranging from £1 to £1000). I used to do it with a friend but we both have our full time job to worry about.

I think it's a great opportunity if someone wants to make a few thousand pounds in a few months but im not sure where to find a buyer or if there are companies that can find me a buyer

Have you considered selling your stock in job lots via ebay?

Alternatively there are people who specialise in stock clearance, just perform a search engine query and you will find something. They may offer ridiculous prices but it all depends on how much your are looking to make out of it. Are they branded items?

If you don't have time to list individually, list a pallet load of mixed and list the contents. Or as close to the contents as you can get.

If its clearance then say so, if its likely broken then say so.

There will be someone like you who is going make their next million dealing in substandard, untested electricals.

If you need rid of it all in the shortest timescale possible, open the door, take a photograph and list it for 3 days starting at a pound.

There are LOADS of people want exactly what you're selling. Obviously they're worth more tested, checked and sold as good but that takes time that you don't have. Or don't want to have.

But one thing is for sure, that is not difficult to sell.

There are many parcel buyers that will offer you an an "insulting" price.

It depends how quickly you want to get rid of the parcel and without any future hassle.

Perhaps splitting in to 2 or 3 smaller parcels may be your best route.

I would try a job lot on eBay first.

You can always lower your asking price if there are no takers.

I forgot to mention I have an 15item or £1800 monthly limit whichever comes first on my Ebay account. 95% of the items are branded(decent brands)

I have always been honest on eBay and listed the exact condition of the items but even then some customers tried to get partial refunds or returns. The high rate of returns(18 eBay disputes out of thousands of items sold) caused Ebay to limit my account

i think I will try to list the whole stock on eBay and wait for offers. Thanks a lot for your contribution.

Unfortunately ebay is like that, people will go ahead and buy something without reading the listing in full, purchase something untested which turns out to be faulty and they want a refund.

I've called Ebay in the past and had disputes lifted where the condition is as-described.

You won't get away with it if there is an obvious disparity between your opinion and the buyers but I would think you should have some success if what you are saying is correct.

18 disputes will take a while but focus on one single dispute, look at the reason and have something to counter it, have them call you and discuss that specific one.

Then tomorrow, do it again with the next one.

You won't win them all but its worth a try.

Also, 18/1000 is <2% which is the Top Rated threshold. Must be fewer items or in a shorter time-frame if they've limited on that basis.

It's the detailed seller rating that affected me I have 20 out of 700 transactions.
The mistake i made was that I was using myhermes to post some items and customers were expecting the items to arrive earlier than what I specified. I have called ebay multiple times and looked at every potential case but they refused to look at DSR because it's the buyer's experience.

When I was selling faulty items, many buyers assumed that the items were easy to fix(Which i didn't mention in the listing), bought them and attempted to fix them. When they were unsuccessful decided to return them but obviously the goods were never returned in the original condition.

The stock will be perfect for someone who will be willing to test the items and fix them. It's a full time job and I think with my asking price I'm leaving a lot of meat on the bone.

I'm hoping to make a list of all the items i have in stock and their condition but with that many I think it will take me over a week to complete. I'm hoping it will be easier to convince potential buyers that way.

When I stopped selling on ebay I had around £30k listed with half my stock being unlisted. I am hoping to get £25k for all the stock. I have been offered £15k before which I thought was a bit low since it was the initial offer but the guy didn't want to pay anything more. Is the 25k unrealistic, should I have settled for £15k? The cost price of the stock is over £25k I'm sure about that.

Why not pick a selection out for 1800 quid list it on ebay until sold, you can use it as an advert to say this is 5% of our stock taking offers for the whole lot.. Buy this sample etc.. good way to hook up with those that might take the lot, i would even offer up your ebay account.

Shifting stock that is getting dusty is not fun

If I see an advert that says that a seller is looking to get rid of stock and hasn't got time to test it, it suggests to me that he has tested it, and it's all junk.

I have 60% untested. 25% is tested and working and 15% faulty. I think if someone is willing to fork out over £20k, they will want to test the expensive untested items. I will be sharing the contact details of my suppliers as well.
