I set up an online walking holiday co for a specific niche back in 2020 as we came out of initial lockdown and were able to holiday in the UK. This grew into 2021 and this year we have doubled our turnover.
My background is in online travel so developed this as an online operator and no physical guidance of the walk is required. My intention was never to run as long as I have so am looking to sell over the next couple of months. We turned over £130k this year with net profit of around £30k (before my drawing which are small).
90% of clients are from overseas and book online and we then send them the itinerary so it's a very simple business to run.
My question is, where is the best place to sell this? Businesses for Sale seems the obvious choice but tried to sell a business a few years back on there and got alot of tyre kickers so ended up selling to a competitor.

Selling to a competitor sounds like the best way to me. £30k profit before your 'salary' is not £30k profit at all, its much less - if any.

In other words, the amount of money someone could take from the business is no more than they could get from a job. That significantly reduces, or eliminates, the value of the business.

Suppose I said to you - I'll give you a £30K a year job, but you'll have to pay me £90k for it, would you take that offer?

I think pentel means at £30k nett profit before drawings, this is not a business but more of a one man band type of job, hence my suggestion of eBay. The average UK salary is approx £28/30k pa.

Northing wrong in a self employed job, most on the forum started or still are in the same situation, but it limits the attraction of selling your “business” since if say a manager was employed, what’s left for the owner?

I would repeat the advice to investigate selling to a competitor, or perhaps somebody within your supply chain - preferred hotel accommodation provider etc

However, I'm curious, if its a simple business & you just collect bookings online and send out a map, what consumes GBP80-100k between your turnover and your net profit?

Hello, I got really curious about your business and would love to have a quick conversation to understand the potential for a deal. I am a business buyer and I currently run several web-based businesses. I know what a demand it is on time in order to have people vet a deal. I am a serious buyer and I usually close business like this within 30 days pending you can give me all the materials that I need. I am not looking to waste either of our time. I don't have a lot of it and I know you don't either. Would you be interested in having a phone call or chat?
