Selling Holidays Abroad

Hello,

Firstly let me introduce myself, I'm about to sign a agents agreement with a large holiday firm as I have discovered a market which I will be able to sell to currently not sold to by the company or one of their fellow agents.

The market is in Italy, I am British and currently living in the UK, however I would happily relocate to run the business abroad.

My responsibilities will involve taking all the money for the holiday and then passing it onto the company who will run the holiday closer to the time. I will receive commission initially by a credit from the company.

I will speak to an accountant but to ask more in depth questions I am seeking some points and advice first of this forum.

I would like to take advantage of a Countries low VAT Rate who would be exempt for UK VAT on purchases the company makes.

So my question, for example Switzerland on 7.6% VAT, would the company in the UK bill me with UK VAT if the company was registered in Swiss.

When it comes to me reselling the holiday to say Italy, at 20%VAT from what I understand I could bill this still at 7.6% until I reach the EU Distance selling threshold in Italy of 30,000Euro by which time I should open a Italian VAT Account and pay it there.

Third question, does a holiday constitute a good, a service or something else?
The holiday is not in the UK.

Like I say I am contacting a accountant regarding the above but nice to go in with a little more knowledge first.

Regards,

Steve Coombs
