Selling facebook and twitter

F

FoneFactoryLtd

Hi guys,

I'm looking to sell our business facebook page and twitter profile.

Facebook has 7k + targeted fans/likes
Twitter has 2500 targeted followers.

My questions are.

1) can I sell them
2) Ow much are they worth, if anything?

I don't understand... Surely they're people that are interested in your brand/company so how can you sell the pages? If don't notice that the page has been changed to another company then what use would they be to anyone...

Half the followers (or more) on Twitter are fake profiles anyway!

Maybe someone might has a use for them.

Ok, that's got a few more followers. As mentioned, I don't know if there's really much point of trying to sell the profiles. I'm pretty sure it would be against bother Facebook and Twitters Terms of Service, as well as being annoying for the people who have followed your company.

For certain niche business' I can see a value to it but looking at the feed and your followers they are pretty general.

In twitters T&Cs it says

'Attempts to sell, buy, or solicit other forms of payment in exchange for usernames are also violations and may result in permanent account suspension.'

& facebooks

'You will not transfer your account (including any Page or application you administer) to anyone without first getting our written permission.'

But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, I've seen accounts bought and sold on other forums.

It's a business asset so you CAN sell it. Contact businesses that might be interested in the mobile industry.

What's that got to do with it? Why would someone buy something that doesn't adhere to the Terms of Service of the site and could get taken down at any point. If the sites are explicitly stating you shouldn't do it, why would you try and do it?

What, you sell it to someone who just wants to spam those users for a while until the profiles get taken down?

No-one's condoning spamming...

If you sell a business, you sell the website, the Twitter profile, the Facebook profile. You simply provide the logins to the new owner/s or users.

Since Twitter accounts are generally personal profile or of people working for companies (i.e. John at Company Name) this is why their t's & c's are worded as above. As you know, Facebook is different with pages which are solely for business.

Manufacturing then harvesting generic accounts for the purpose of spamming is obviously a different matter and this is what these social networks really want to prevent.

I understand that, but it doesn't sound like the original poster is selling the business. He just wants to sell the profiles...

I assumed he was selling the business too because the Facebook and Twitter accounts aren't generic, they are branded to the business, if he sells them and the buyer changes the branding then there will be some confusion there with the followers.

No I think he just wants to sell the profiles.

If he was selling the whole business then yes, it's an asset to have that many followers and likes on Facebook (presuming they are all active and engaging with your content). Saves having to set it all up yourself.

Just selling them as a stand alone though...worthless and against the rules entirely.
