Hello
Firstly apologies for breaking message board etiquette, and asking for advice with my first post.

I am looking to retail alcohol at an indoor Christmas market. I have my personal license, and the event space is covered by a premises license. There is no food for sale on the stall.

I wondered then, if I still need a food hygiene license, and if there are any other licenses/certificates that I would need prior to me selling my first drink to a thirsty customer.

If your not selling food why would you need a food hygiene certificate? Your bet bet would be to contact your local licencing dept at the council.

If you have an off licence then your drinks licence would not cover you for selling drinks to people to drink on the premises, you would have to have a publican type of licence and then register the venue and pay the appropriate fee to the council for the event.

So your council will be able to let you know about the fees and what you can or can't do

Great, thanks.
Re: food hygiene. As the alcohol constitutes a consumable good, I would have thought that there might be a process to ensure what you are selling is what it says on the tap/isn't out of date/comes from clean pipes etc. As far as I am aware, all that is required is free tap water. Which just seemed odd as customers are just as likely to contract a bug from a glass of fizz as they are a bowl of paella.

All the food hygiene regs cover cross contamination, what chopping board to use, where to store things in the fridge, nothing with alcohol or drinks so you don't need to worry about that. What type of Drinks Licence do you have?

Hello. Have the BIIAB award, and the actual license from my local authority.
The venue itself is covered by a premises license.
So i think I am covered in every way I need to be. Will check with the local authority anyway.
