Self isolation query

Hi all

Hoping for some advice.

I have an employee who needs to self isolate for three days due to a family member who has to go into hospital. They are asking if they will be paid for these days.

Would they be eligible for Covid SSP, meaning they will be paid for the three days as don't need the four waiting days?

Thanks

They cannot get SSP for anything unless they are unfit to work for 4 calendar days. If they are only self isolating for 3 days there is no entitlement to SSP

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

Reading the content it makes reference to 4 days in a row including any of their usual non working days.
As this employee will be off on a Weds, Thurs, Fri the weekend is non working days so in essence he will be off for a total of 5 days.
If reading correctly therefore he would be entitled to SSP for those 3 days he was off?

It depends when their fitness to work starts. If they are fit to work (out of self isolation) on Saturday it does not matter that they do no work. Their Period of Incapacity to Work ends. So they do not have a 4 day PIW so no SSP.

I am in exactly the same position - I need to isolate from this morning till my operation of Friday, and my wife works at the hospital! She is going to work as usual, and I am isolating from everyone - so I'm in my studio in the extension working, and the spare bedroom. She's putting food at the studio door and we don't go into the same room. The bathroom has to be cleaned between us - so she gets up first, then sprays and cleans the shower and loo, and then when she's gone, I use the same facilities and spray and clean after I've done. We've worked it fine. The only odd bit is I have to be driven in at 7am by her, in her car - I just have to sit in the back and we both wear masks. The pre-op nurses explained it, and the covid test nurse this morning said exactly the same things. Oddly - I cannot go to my office in my van, where I work on my own - which I reckon is still isolation. They don't agree - I must not leave the house.

Hope all goes well for you on Friday and you are able to get back to some sort of normality in your household. All the best

The person I am referring to has his daughter going in and the whole family have to self isolate!
I wish you all the best for your op on Friday.
