Self Import or Agent

Hi I'm in the process of importing goods from the Caribbean. A what point should I do it myself or use an agent?

What length is a piece of string? It depends on so many factors, get them all right and its plain sailing, get just one wrong and it could destroy you. The product & its technicalities will mean some things are simple and easy to do yourself, whereas more complicated projects will mean agents would be best!

Well I'm working with my cousin who is in Jamaica who is a farmer that produces and sells plenty of chillie peppers. I know several stores in the UK that will sell my brand of Pepper sauce etc when I have them. Te idea is for my cousin to produce the sauce and send it to send, while I bottle and sell the finished article. It will be on a smaller scale at first then build up.


So would it still be best to use an agent?

Ahh "chilli peppers" from the Caribbean.

Best to use an agent - you don't want to be doing a diy import job on a yacht to Southampton.
