Self Employed Vehicle purchase and VAT

I am looking at buying a van soon for my self employment startup and have a question about VAT.

Some of the adverts for vans on eBay state ‘no vat’.

Can someone please tell me what they mean by this?

Also, can I claim vat back for a van purchase?

It means just that, they are not charging VAT they may not be VAT registered or its a private sale. If you buy a van and charged VAT and you are VAT registered then you can claim. Best have a conversation with your accountant.
