Seeking simple online database system, with email and SMS facilities if possible?

I was wondering whether anybody could recommend a user-friendly database system that a friend of mine can use to securely store client data (about 500 records) and also save online.

He would also like to be able to mailshot his clients as and when required via email and sms. So will possibly require email facilities also. He's in the UK, if that helps.

does he need to grow it in the future?
what does he want to store
how does he want to send emails
does he want opt-out handling etc. for those emails
- most of what we put in of this nature is bespoke as every client is different, but a little more info would be great - or drop me a PM...

Depending what other functionality they require their requirements could be met by either a moderately simple build or probably a couple of off the shelf solutions.

I don't think he'll want to grow it dramatically in the future.

Information to store will be basic details about each client: name, address, contact details etc.

Opt-out email facility would be great.

Which off-the-shelf solutions would you recommend please?

The SMS integration is the tricky bit - there's loads of email marketing programmes out there who will store the data securely online but only one I can think of which will do SMS texting too - InfusionSoft.

If he's willing to be a bit more manual with the SMS texts, then it opens up a lot more possibilities.
