Seeking advice from Estate/Letting Agents RE: Floor Plan drawings

Hi,
I am seeking advice from those working in the Estate/lettings Agency industry.
Are the drawing of floor plans, (that accompany your sales literature), generally done "in-house" by the agent, or do you outsource this to an outside compnay? For instance, i have seen websites on the internet which offer a floor plan drawing service to estate agents. The estate agent will fax a rough hand drawn sketch with measurements, the drawing company then redraws the agents sketch on CAD software and then returns it in a digital file of their choice ready for your sales literature. I am wondering, how many of you guys actually use a service like this ? (is it the norm?) or is it something you do yourselves using software such as metropix?

I would greatly appreciate any advice you guys can offer, thanks.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel

I think most estate agents do outsource floor plan drawings.
I picked upon this about 12 months ago and have been supplying various floor plans to local estate agents and small/large companies.
I am able to provide a fast turnaround (typically 24 hours) and can tailor the plans to suit any particular requirement. I can also produce the plans in a variety of formats - DWG, DXF, PDF, JPG.
I have been working from estate agent sketches and converting architectural drawings to produce an attractive, simplified plan that prospective purchasers can readily understand. This provides continuity in the style of plans throughout the agent's details and is cost effective leaving the estate agents to concentrate on the sales.
Most of my customers prepare a rough sketch when they visit a property and mark on the room dimensions. The measurements I need are usually only those that would normally be taken, windows are approximations, doors and staircases are generally all standard sizes. Most customers then fax this to me on their return to the office. Once I receive this sketch, I prepare a draft drawing, which I then fax back for approval. As soon as this is approved, I send the finished drawing either by post or email.

Hi Daniel

I started off by visiting all the estate agents in my local area and after speaking to the managers in person I left them with an info leaflet with all my details on.
I then proceeded to go to various companies in my area and did the same.
Picked up 5 jobs in the first week and roughly getting 2-4 a week currently.
