Hello, Am searching for a Pro bono Accounting Support from an accountant who can help bring a company account up to date (i.e. update the company HMRCs accounts of a business.) The business is not a charity but has gone through challenging times and just coming out of a difficult place).

Spoke to a few people, did some research and was recommended the below who provide pro bono accounting with confidentiality
- Accounting for International Development (AfID)
- national pro bono centre

Your recommendations are welcome. Thanks

Ask yourself this question - why would someone want to give their time and skills for nothing?

The organisations you highlighted are very much about good causes - 'helping business' is unlikely to come under that banner.

If you are in the turnaround phase, you may find an accountant who will accept deferred terms (possibly with a guarantee), or some kind of quid pro quo arrangement.

Have you done any Pro bono work yourself, Have you spent hours doing your own records into a spreadsheet or basic accounts package. Why do you feel you deserve free support
the answer is yes. I have done alot of free service / pro bono:
- Free business and career mentoring
- Free IT support
- Free Counselling (well being therapy)

There is nothing wrong with searching for a pro bono if the situation calls for it. By all means paying for the service would be preferred.

Are these HMRC accounts of the business different to the company’s normal bookkeeping records?

Notwithstanding, try a local college offering accountancy courses. They may have students who could use it as experience. You should then get them properly verified.
