It takes time to get listed in search engines.

My first tip would be to break out of those frames, SE don’t like them.

Next get some inward links, find some sites that you can swap links with, find directories that you can get add yourself too.

Next (nothing to do with SE) get rid of the animations.

It takes a lot of visitors to make a sale, keep working at it

Hi - Change your title on each page to your main keywords.

Add them also to your frames - yes add title tags and keywords to your frames even though they will not be seen. (Sorry to contradict the post above but some of my clients use frames and are ranked very highly in the s.e.)

Add ALT tags to your images with associated keywords.

Also add information regarding your product to your site - not on one page but on 20 pages or more. Maybe in the form of FAQ's ;)

Find someone listed in Google that will link to you and then keep an eye on your website statistics to see when the Googlebots appear and then wait a few weeks ;)

If they can write a short paragraph about you and then add a link in the paragrapg using some of your keywords in the link text that will also help.

A good way of getting incoming links is to have a well paying affiliate program that links direct to your site pages - thats quite expensive though.

They are quite slow but you'll get listed :)

Once you've done that we can take another look and see whats next :)

Hope this helps,

Rob

I have to agree with the comments about the animation, they are very off-putting.

I am guessing that your site is quite new as you have no Page Rank. Most SE's take a while to get good listings. MSN is the quickest followed by Yahoo and Google last. This can be frustrating especially as most people use Google. It has been known for Google to take upto 12 months to recognise your SEO and give a good placement. However do not give up, get busy.

Get you on page optimisation done as discussed above. Then get inbound links to your site. In general the more links to your site from other sites the better your SERPS.

Mike.

Hello Again Nadia!

I didn't realise that you had posted this here as well as the e-commerce forum.

Anyway I won't repeat what I have already said. Other people have beaten me to it on this thread anyway!

The only thing I will say, especially as you are trying to target Google, is have you considered submitting a feed to Froogle?

Regards

Dotty

Google can take a while to list you - keep working on getting inbound links from other quality sites with a similar theme to yours and get them to link to you with some of your keywords in the link text - you should get listed eventually. :)

Hi Nadia,

I agree with the previous comments and want to make an additional suggestion. As well as trying to get listed in the main area of the search engines you could also consider paying to advertise on them.

Google offers a cheap way of setting up a pay-per-click advert, this is called an 'Adwords Campaign'. Using Adwords you only pay when someone clicks on your advert (which takes them to your website). You control how much to pay for each click on your advert and you can also set daily limits for the amount you are willing to pay out.

Just because you're listed in the main area of the search engine shouldn't preclude trying the other option and vice versa. Some people will click on an advert, others wont. Some people will search through several pages for your website, others will not.

There are many companies like mine who would happily advise and set up such an advert for you, but if you're willing to put some time aside it's quite easy for you to set up an advertising campaign with Google yourself.

Regards, Adam Collis.

Nadia,

You have some good advice here...but one thing that i havent read which i think is critical to getting in Google.....BEING LISTED IN DMOZ.

If its been mentioned and i havent read it properly, apologies all round.

DMOZ is a manually researched directory, founded by the chap who started Netscape all those years ago, and Google relys on DMOZ a lot. So do many other engines.

My philosophy for SEO is this...you dont necessarily need adwords, you can do well for free, just get good inbound links from popular relevant sites and get listed in DMOZ.

I've found a quick way to increase inbound links is to post on forums like this and include your site's URL in your sig. Alternatively, find web logs pertinent to your site and post comments (without being too spammy in your material) The reason this works is that forums and blogs tend to be spidered more regularly because the content changes on a daily basis. This will get the search engines to recognise your site faster, but to have an affect on your listing, you will have to devote a great deal of time and energy to posting on the various forums/blogs you target.

Obviously only post on threads where you have a genuine input otherwise you will annoy other members of your community.

What worked for me....
links, and links and more links.
Dedicate at least 2 hours a week to the most boring job:
add your link to other sites, not all of them require a reciprocal link, it does really work.
I was running a pay per click with google, altough it was good I found I was paying for lots of curious people that didn't really have an interest in our sector.
I then linked with some big motorcycling sites and they bring so much traffic our way for nothing.
We do have an affiliate program that allows the linked site to earn some money while generating buying traffic to our site if they want to, it's much cheaper than google.
But as I've said adding links, unfortunately it's probably the most boring job :?
good luck
