I posted a topic the other day regarding photography and recieved a very positive response so many thanks for that.

I wonder if anyone would know how I could go about school portrait photography. I have all of the kit so pretty much ready to go. How could I go about doing this and what will I need?

I have a valid CBR check. I'm guessing I will need Public Liability Insurance as well. Just wondered how I could go about doing this. I don't have a brilliant business mind so value your feedback.

I didn't see your first post but I would not recommend photography. I am afraid that every man & his dog is doing the same thing these days. It is a difficult hobby to turn into a business, especially one that will support you.

My understanding is that it is to do with differing skill sets - You may have an eye for a picture where you are in control but this is not the same with weddings etc that will be your bread & butter.

I believe that the school contract would have been sewn up long ago. You will need a portfolio (that shows you can make a bunch of snot nosed, gap toothed brats look half decent) and far reduced prices.

Aint that the truth!

Photography as a business is something like 20% photography, 80% marketing, sales and, especially for weddings, being able to organise people properly.
