Hello,
First time posting but hopefully one of many...

I have had some great ideas of table sauces to sell to the public which will have no preservatives and a great range (i hope)
My question is that I want to start small which would mean creating the sauces at home to sell on in areas such as online and food shows/markets.
I understand the sauces will need to be tested which I have details to arrange but I wanted to know am I able to do this at home normally? and bottle up myself?

Any advice would be welcomed.

You would need to register with your local council as you are preparing food on your premises. Perfectly fine to do at home as long as you meet the requirements - you will need a level 2 food hygiene & safety certificate, seperate sinks for dishwashing and handwashing and washing veg

You will need to look into what information you’d need to include on your labels

Thanks for the info, it's nice to know that this would be needed also.
Would it pay to maybe have some of this equipment set up in a outbuilding/garage where you can have separate sinks along with additional space for storage of products?

I can work with a company but being small not many would work with us so would have to start small

So long as meets council requirements then should be able to do it.

May be worth exhibiting at markets and local events (try a site called stallholder) with your sauces and stuff to put it on for people to try.
For example if great on chips you'd have a load of chips in small containers on the stall for people to try the sauce with before buying.

Make VERY sure of your allergen issues. First person drops dead in front of your stall and you won't be invited back there again.
Seriously, there is demand to crack down on allergen labelling so make sure yours is accurate.
