Sage One & Crunch: what's the difference?

We are with Crunch but I'm looking at switching to Sage One and getting someone to organise our accounts. What's the difference between Sage One and Crunch - does anyone have experience of these two?

In both cases you have an accountant completing your year-end work and are left to plug in the day-to-day transactions yourself. If you are VAT registered, just check what the situation is with Sage One first. I know Crunch will file your VAT returns for you, I'm not sure if Sage One has the capability to file electronic returns.

Please also consider using Quick File...This is a free online accounts program suitable for all types of small businesses. It has an incredibly simple interface and some great bank reconciliation tools to enable you to run through your bank statement and build all the purchase and sales invoices on the fly.

Hi Dandelion
Thought I would reply to your thread and see if I can help too.
Sage One is a simple easy-to-use accounting service for small business owners and their accountants.
I'm guessing your a small business owner, in which case I'd recommend you take a free trial of Sage One Accounts. Make sure you use the promo code UKBF11 to get 3 months extra free too.
If you use Sage One and link your service to your accountant, they can get access to all of your information at the same time as you. Meaning you don't need to send them any paperwork or data files, they can access it from their office through the web. Our Accountant Edition is free to the 10,000 members of our Accountants Club so you should be able to find one. if you go to our website we have a video of one of our customers talking about using Sage One with his accountant on our Accountant Edition page under 'what do accountants think?'
If you need anything else please feel free to send me a message.

Thanks

Dandelion, basically you are comparing two different things.

Sage One is an online bookeeping package, whilst Crunch are a firm of accountants, who happen to offer an online bookeeping system that their clients can use to keep their records.

I am guessing that if you use sage one, you will still want to use a firm of accountants to prepare your year end accounts.

Why do you want to switch from Crunch ?

Hi Strontium Dog :)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I feel like I'm always coming on here to complain but I'm struggling with Crunch as they're £60 a month and we're not getting much from them. The guy who runs the company is really nice and I'm willing to give them a chance but so far

they've talked us into getting our business account with a bank that's really unsuitable for start-ups (they say because this bank will be integrated with their system - eventually).

They don't answer our emails and never return phone calls.

Getting any information or advice out of them is very difficult.

They forgot to take out their monthly payment, didn't tell us about it and then took a lump sum out of our account without warning, which left us without a full deposit for something essential to the business.

We're not really getting any more than an online book keeping package!
