Hi..am brand new to the site, am coming to the end of my manual bookkeeping courses and am pretty happy with the way things have gone. But every job i look at is asking for experience with 'Sage' software. Was going to buy the software anyway but want to know if its possible to teach yourself, by playing around with it, or if its better to do a 3 day course or to do a 12 week course at college. Am trying to do this as cheap as possible.Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I found it really straight forward to pick up sage, however Sage do some good courses if your interested, I can't post the URL as i haven't done enough posts but if you look on the Sage website under training it should give you a good idea.

I think a 12 week course might not be worth it - depending on how much it would cost of course as it's quite easy to pick up and a self study or 2 day sage course would give you a good understanding of how the system works.

Depends on how quickly you pick things up.
Sage has demonstration data within it (a full set of data that you can 'play with') and a very good 'help' menu - but you have to be at the stage where you know what questions to ask!
I would suggest it would be worthwhile paying for a bit of training from Sage - you can get self-study workbooks from them or go for classroom training.
