Sage 200 Business Partner

Hi all, we are looking into upgrading to Sage 200 from Sage 50, we have been told that this must be done with a Sage Business Partner, does anyone have any experience with this and feels they can recommend any particular company?

In one of my last employments we used Technology Partners. This was for Sage 1000, but believe they also do Sage 200.

The support was personal, and very good. This was around 5 years ago, however.

Sage themselves should be able to give you a list of Business Partners that cover the area you are in.

Hi, I work for a Sage BP and can confirm that you do need to have Sage 200 delivered through a partner rather than direct from Sage. This is because Sage 200 should be tailored to suit your business, have your Sage 50 data migrated (quite often with changes to things like nominal structures) and fully trained on for you to gain the full benefit of product.

mdenis90 asks a very good question though. Why do you need to upgrade? Really there should be some very good reasons such as Speed, Stock management, multi tier nominal requirement etc. Sometimes various 3rd party add-ons can be a better option both functionality and commercially.

And it is also worth considering options. At this level, it is a million miles from installing, doing a couple of hours of setup and being ready to go.

We migrated from sage to sap business one. The sage solutions just seem to be dated and too hard to work with. Each to their own, of course, but the time and money involved justify investigating the other options.

For Sage 200 clients of mine have used solutionsforaccounting who are a large dealer in the Midlands; There is a good geographic search facility on the Sage Web site for dealers .

As per the above reply : Sage 200 is a big leap from 50 ( in cost & complexity)so it is good to think about why the need to go to a bigger system; Where there are specific reasons EG Stock control, Warehousing & distribution, etc that 5 does not deal with so well - it is worth looking at add-ons that negate the need for an upgrade to 200; for example a couple of my clients use Sapmanv12 which avoided the need to go to 200.

Again , Sage website has a Sage Additions section - which is well worth a look.
