I have a employee who has been with the company for 3 years she was made a manager 4 months ago however since then they hardly seem to be at their workstation she will go to another unit with a inquery (which a phone call would be suffice) or an order which would take a couple of minutes to deal with.it as been known for her to go to the other unit on several occasions and be gone for half hour+

Talk to her. Ask why she needs to make these visits. Is she managing the other unit? Is there a manager there who she thinks she needs advice from? Is she out of her depth and frightened about her new role.

Talk to her. Don't threaten or complain. Not at this stage. Just talk.
