RTI

Up until this week, I have had no trouble submitting the RTI pay details for our two employees. However, this week, I enter the date and pay and press next. Nothing happens, so I cannot send my weekly return. I notice that the "form" you submit on has changed. Have they cocked it up again? What really annoys me is that I cannot contact HMRC by EMail only by phone or snail mail. Is the RTI software still working properly or has it been corrupted. We would be the last people to know!:|

Firstly, which software are you using? I assume HMRCs Basic PAYE tools? However "entering the date and pay before hitting Submit" isn't my recollection of how that works.

Are you getting an error code or message displayed? Have you checked your emails for any confirmation/rejection?

Can you give us a little more to work on other?

Mine has failed completely. I downloaded an update which the system prompted me to download and my computer crashed and the whole software was corrupted so I can't even open it.

When I rang the helpline they told me it was a known fault on some computers and that I should download it again. It didn't work and I got Error 13 message. I now have no access to the PAYE system at all.

Beginning to think I will need to outsource to another company as I am sick of it all.

If you want to run your own payroll you could look at third party software. My firm uses Moneysoft which is very popular and it works very well. No problems with RTI at all....yet :)

If you would like a quote for payroll, please feel free to Pm me.

However, failing that, there is lots of decent software out there. Moneysoft is pretty good, and doesn't seem to have had any problem dealing with RTI.

Thank you both for the Moneysoft recommendation. It looks straightforward and I have downloaded the one month free trial. Will let you know how I get on!

I was just thinking that it doesn't seem long ago that I was doing the PAYE manually with booklet, charts and cheque/paying in book and there have been so many changes since then!

I remember the old charts and books too :eek: Used to take ages to do the payroll. But yes so much has changed since then.

Just wanted to report back to say what a dream the Moneysoft software is compared to that of the Inland Revenue. I have finally managed to make my submissions after lots of chaos trying to use the free software. £56 well spent compared to the time I would be wasting trying to rectify the mess!

    Thank you!

    That's really good news :)

Thanks for letting us know too.:)
