Royal Mail Small Parcels Dimensions Changing (for the good!)

As an FYI for those not yet aware of the expected Royal Mail changes...

Currently the maximum depth for the Small Parcel size is 80mm but I understand this will soon be growing to 160mm. This *should* be introduced before November, possibly within the next three weeks.

Why? Because people with brains at Royal Mail have suddenly realised that their dreams of becoming a profitable parcel carrier are currently a joke. The Small Parcel dimensions are simply too small.

This new size should be far more usable for heavily packaged or larger and relatively light items.

Expect an imminent formal announcement from Royal Mail.

Hi

Do you have a source for this new sizing ?

You have always been able to send parcels upto 16cm high as long as the other 2 dimensions didn't exceed 16cm also

From the RM Website
Exceptions apply The following items are also priced as Small Parcels:
Parcels that measure up to and including:
Length: 16cm and Width: 16cm and Depth: 16cm

My local post office have confirmed to me that the size will be changing again, but when she doesn't know. Think Royal Mail realised they got their sizing completely wrong on this one, lets hope they sort it sooner rather than waiting till April next year when they usually introduce any changes.

yep, I heard about this as well from the local post office manager, who also showed me the box of what the new dimensions look like. I am sure some small online shoe retailers will love this news, as now they can run profitable businesses once again, as the previous small size was way to small to squeeze a pair through.
