Royal mail recorded vs courier service?

can anyone recommend a good courier service? I have been using royal mail recorded delivery for posting out our products but wanting to find out about courier services as a possible alternative. I know of a few (Citylink and DHL) but wanted recommendations if anyone had any. If they also dealt with international deliveries that would be great too. thanks in advance.:D

DPD is really good, they'll give you a one hour delivery window and it seems to be winning with our customers. Very quick to resolve problem and have been using them for almost two year now - not many issues so far!

Also, use TNT and Fedex for international, the rate is reasonable and no problem so far.

However, keep an eye on parcel2go as sometimes their prices are lower to certain countries or area.

hope that helped.

RM recorded delivery is no better from a delivery point of view than RM 1st. (or 2nd.) class, but it does have the psychological advantage that the customer has to sign for something (which they don't with 1st. or 2nd. class post). A courier will usually be more expensive except for heavy parcels. It depends on whether you get a lot of fraud in your particular area of business, and the value of the parcels you are sending out. I would look at RM Special Delivery for more expensive parcels, which are not too heavy - this is guaranteed next day delivery and is often cheaper than couriers, assuming you have an on-line a/c with RM.

Hi,

It depends on the weight and size of your products as to which service will be most cost effective.

Royal Mail is still your cheapest option for small, light items.

If you're not delivering in large volumes then getting a good rate from the couriers direct will be difficult and shipping will be expensive.

If you're sending less than c200 parcels a month, you can send up to 20kg via City Link with us for £6.99 on an adhoc basis.

If you're sending more than c200 then check out P4D Pro for even cheaper rates.

If you'd like any more info, let us know :)

Cheers,

Nat
