Royal Mail not collecting because it’s hot!

Anyone who has a daily Royal Mail or Parcelforce collection been told this today or is it just our Romford depot?

I’ve checked the service update pages and can’t see anything mentioned about collections not taking place.

Our country closes down when it’s cold and when it’s hot, what a joke!

I imagine they have received numerous no shows today like many other companies. My post delivery was fine, saw several vans collecting nearby just before 5pm, so most are still working.

We didn't receive a notification, email, phone call, text message, nothing popped up on social media (and I do follow a bunch of Royal Mail accounts). Nothing in Click&Drop either. Normally my collection is bang on 5pm so I was stood about till 20 past and then tried the depot with no answer or answer phone.

I had to drive by my local depot shortly after anyway, it was all locked up by 5.40pm.

I don't mind at all that they had to shut early and the safety of staff is paramount. Notify your customers though!

DPD have done the same pulled all the pick ups forward so drivers can avoid the afternoon heat

Our local sorting office collected from the towns post offices at about 11-00am yesterday morning, then send everyone hone. The local posties were out at 5-00 am and if they were not finished on their rounds at 11-00am then they were just to finish and bring everything back to the sorting office and go hone. The same is planned for today apparently.

I only found this out when the local post office phoned as soon as they knew, which was when they came to collect the bags of post, and we were still packing orders so couldnt do anything as it had already happened

Royal Mail vans are not air conditioned.
Same with most other couriers.

Same here ParcelForce did collections only in the morning. Bunch of whimps!

Local RM and PF collections were moved forwards here too.
Fair enough, hottest two days in the UK on record, I know it's a pain in the backside for businesses, but I have no issues telling my customers that there could be a day delay in delivery due to exceptional circumstances.

If they can't work in the heat then they shouldnt be in employment.
