Hi,

We charge a flat rate of £4.99 for postage regardless if they purchase 1 product or 100 product. We sell clothing online.

We use Royal Mail online printing to produce the postage labels, therefore if a customer has only purchase 1 lightweight item then the postage may only be £2.80 but we still charge £4.99. Likewise, if a customer purchases 3 or 4 heavy products then the postage maybe £8.50 but we only charge £4.99.

Anyway when the postage label is printed it displays the actual cost of the postage. For some customers it may look a bit odd charging £4.99 when the postage label has £2.80 on it!!

Is there anyway not to display the postage cost on the label??

Thanks,

D:mad:

I used smartstamp for a couple of years and never found the option either. However I'm pretty sure the option is available if you buy your postage through Paypal for customers who paid by Paypal.
I'm now on PPI (packetpost), if you send enough parcels you might qualify.

Dazzfree, you charge £4.99 for Postage and PACKING. plus you state thats the only charge so its the same if a customer buys 1 product or 100. So they may be tempted to buy more?? which is just what you want.

You also need to remember your time in packing the items plus trip to post office, getting reciept etc. i think its a very reasonable charge. tell them the actual cost of the postage if they ask and the difference is for the packing and your time arranging delivery etc...

I wouldn't worry too much ;)

I've tried various methods over time and found the best way is to offer discounted rates the more the customer buys and if over a certain level do it free for the UK. Nearly every sale now is a multiple, whereas in the early days the vast majority were single item sales. It's quite amazing to see people add an extra item to their basket to go over the free P&P threshold. Stocking a few cheap but very high profit items helps as well.

You do however have to look in detail at your prices and margins to allow you to do this profitabily, it's easy to get it wrong, been there done that, and learnt very quickly. :)
