Roman Cart

Apologies if this subject has been done to death but I can't quite find the info I,m looking for through previous posts regarding "Romancart"

We currently use Paypal and also TPV through a Spanish bank but now need a more customer friendly online payment solution so have been looking at Romancart. A huge amount of features (ie stock control etc) are not required - more the basics such as cross selling features/discount codes... Having looked at Romancart it appears that this system could provide a solution to what we require (with Paypal Pro)

My questions are:

Has anyone taken up Romancart then left? If so which solution did you adopt instead?

Did you notice an increase in conversion?

Any issues with implimentation?

If needed was the support good?

Any similar alternatives....?

Thanks in advance, any opinions from previous Romancart or current OSC users much appreciated.

Hi Serrano,

Any similar alternatives....?
The Shop Integrator ecommerce plug-in service is equivalent to the Roman Cart solution offering a similar feature set.

One big advantage of the Shop Integrator solution over Roman Cart is that you have a much richer set of dynamic website ecommerce plug-ins that you don't get with Roman Cart, so as well as 'Add to Basket/Cart' and 'Buy Now' you also have the ability to add a dynamic in-page mini-basket/cart in to your static web page or have a customer choose which currency they wish to view your site prices in with the in-page multi-currency capabilities, allowing the shopper to browse your whole site in the currency they choose from the list you make available to them.

Hi Online Trader,

Thanks for pointing this out.

In the last few days we have upgraded the live Shop Integrator service to a add additional features and enhancements for our online merchants. This live service is fully functional and active.

The admin demo page link which you have pointed out as being down is in the process of being upgraded to be in line with the newer version. The admin demo system is separate to the live system and gives a read only view of a real account with some pre-configured data so all shop owners see the same example without being able to affect it.

In the meantime, to see the lastest version of the Shop Integrator admin console, please register for a free account. Apologies for the inconvenience with viewing the admin demo at the moment.

We used Romancart along with paypal pro for about 2 years with no problems at all support was good but never really needed them as the setup is quite easy even for a novice.

The only reason we left is our new website was redesigned using prestashop software so there was no need for romancart. I would recommend them any day.

Regards,

Mark.

Hi,

Our read only instant access Shop Integrator demo ecommerce administration account has now been upgraded to the latest version of our software. Those people who were interested in taking a look at the admin console without the need to register, you may now do so.

Apologies if you tried looking yesterday and were unable to view the admin demo, it was unfortunate timing on my behalf that I responded to this thread just as the demo admin system was in the process of being upgraded to be in-line with our latest software version!

Hello Dave,

I need your starter package (less then 50 products) is the price £29.99 + vat ?
Yes that is correct, for UK based website owners, a 1 year, max 50 products in catalogue subscription is £29.99 + VAT.

Once you register for your 30 day free trial account you will be able to purchase a subscription from your Shop Integrator administration console (link visible on the admin console hompage). Your paid subscription period is added on to any remaining days of your free trial so you still receive the full 30 days free trial period.

I see from looking at your Swim Glows website that it appears to be a WordPress site? The Shop Integrator ecommerce plugin will integrate in to a WordPress site 'as is'. However, we are are in the process beta trialing a Shop Integrator Ecommerce Connector WordPress plugin. Our WordPress plugin makes it straightforward to incorporate the Shop Integrator ecommerce features straight in to your WordPress site using buttons directly embedded in to the standard WordPress page/blog editors. We are beta testing a version with a web designer on this forum, Graham (Fiscix) for one of his customer's websites.

I would be happy to provide you with the Shop Integrator Ecommerce Connector WordPress plugin for you to use to get the best results with your WordPress site? I'll send you a PM with a link to download our WordPress plugin.

Hello Snowgoat,

We are in the process of expanding our payment gateway connectivity from just PayPal. We are a matter of days away from a new software release which will bring integration with eWAY’s United Kingdom, Australian and New Zealand payment gateways. Using eWAY to process your customer payments is a really cost effective way to accept payments online, eWAY’s prices starting from just £100 per year, no set up fee and 20p per transaction charge.

This is an exciting time for us as the work we have put in to allow the eWAY connectivity from the Shop Integrator shopping basket has laid the foundations for easier and quicker integration with other payment gateways that people are asking for, such as SagePay and/or eKashu that you specifically were asking after.

Your customer order data is already being stored in your Shop Integrator account and once or imminent release is live, the next release cycle over the coming months is where we plan to add the capability to automatically generate invoices and issue these to customers. The delivery note/slip associated with an order is not something that we had down on our immediate development plan but is something that we will add to our feature request roadmap and see what the demand for such a feature is from our clients.

Your customer order data is stored in your Shop Integrator account, currently from an order perspective, i.e you can look up your orders and see the customer data associated with an order. We do have future development plans to allow you to access the same data from a customer perspective, which would give you the ability to get hold of your customer data for promotion purposes and customer management. Because this customer data is just a different view on to the existing order data that we already store in the system, it means that once we add the customer management feature all of your existing customer data will be populated in the new customer view.

So, if you looking for the Shop Integrator shopping basket to connect to SagePay/eKashu and generate invoices and export customer data for promotional purposes, then the answer today is no, however over the coming months, my responses to the same questions will start changing to yes.

Well, good luck with your development, but 'over the coming months' with developing software / beta / customer testing could stretch a bit.

I realise that RomanCart isn't going to suit everyone, but their new edition, coming out later this week, solves all these problems for us, and specifically, the ability to have it feeding from several sites, is the clincher.

Maybe gently steering the thread back to RomanCart, their new version, which is coming out of beta this week, could be interesting, having had a brief look. I wasn't entirely convinced about how their current version dealt with VAT for EEC/non-EEC punters.

I find RomanCart's video tutorials useful, and the hookup to SagePay went smoothly, and just need to be convinced about its VAT handling.

No affilation, BTW.
