I roller-blade pretty much everywhere.

I was thinking, maybe I could start a roller blade courier service? The USP would be in the delivery itself, as the blades are fairly unusual...and maybe I could dress like a 70's roller-disco king too :D

Up sides:
Good fitness
I average 18 mph which is 6mph faster than average traffic speed (in London)
Can go down all sorts of little passages.
Can carry quite a lot (more than a bicycle because I have my hands free too)

Down sides:
If it rains my speed is reduced quite a bit and its bloody dangerous
I almost get run over pretty much every day
I would be competing with bicycles which are slightly faster and less exhausting
Could be hard to make a decent crust unless I pushed the more quirky delivery method..

Thoughts?

love the idea - could be quite a nice delivery system and certainly stands out from the crowd - I may know somone who's interested in your services so I'll send you a PM.

Also how about as a extra revenue generation you could sell advertising on your cloths ? think how many people you'd be going pass on a regular day.

Ahh, two good ideas! I should have read this before replying to your PM (which makes sense now) lol

For me it would be high. Becuase there are no laws governing where a roller-blader can blade (apart from within Royal parks apparently) which means I can and will blade on streets, roads, pavements, paths, steps, train tracks..

Insurance would probably be £300 a day LOL

Actually, because I'm genuinely interested in this. Could anyone point me in the right direction to get personal insurance for this type of venture?

Would it be indemnity insurance?

This sounds such a fun idea. make sure you tell us all if you go ahead with it............I want to be the official photographer.

Seriously, best of luck. I like crazy people with crazy ideas. They often turn out to be a winner :)

I love the business model!!!! Very Soho... but think it would be difficult there! Would be perfect in certain areas like the embankment but may be a tricky business model if you can only deliver in certain zones. Maybe blades or bike service?!
