Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

Hmmmm.
I saw the movie this evening. It was pretty enjoyable. It is two hours long but it doesn't feel it. The apes are of course CGI and it does show, however they are very well done. James Franco is his usual wooden but pretty self, whilst Brian Cox chucks in an effortless 'baddie' performance.
It ends quite abruptly and is clearly the first in a new telling of the whole story.

I had one of Mrs estwigs spaghetti bolognesses this evening. It was pretty enjoyable. The pasta was of course Tesco and it did show, however it was very well done. The sauce was nice and looked very pretty, whilst the red wine went down effortlessly. It all ended quite abruptly, but the addition of garlic bread was very welcome. This is clearly the first in many meals to come.

I'd like to chip in with a 6/10... pretty CGI, some nice moments such as when the lead ape talks for the first time :) but otherwise a soulless journey with a terrible "made for the US audience" ending... pffft

Did you notice any spoilers in my little review?

I think your criticism is a little misplaced, you can only judge a CGI action romp as a CGI action romp. The ending was pretty abrupt I thought, but was clearly setting up a franchise.

Thank goodness we have the power of independent thought

Avatar was a CGI action romp but was, in my humble opinion, a visual treat and a well told albeit simple and oft-repeated story.

A CGI romp that just about ticks the average box deserves criticism.

Quite.

Avatar never appealed to me, so I have not seen it.
Best do what you think best and not watch the sequels. I probably will.
As an aside the Indian vet lady was very pretty wasn't she?
