Hi guys,
I am new to this website, already very impressed - it seems a great place to share advice and look for answers.

I have a little question for you:

If I were to buy 10 guitars from a leading manufacturer such as 'Fender' and then sell those guitars to make a profit what would I need in terms of licenses/permissions??

I know it depends on your situation but would I be breaking any laws if i just did it?

Not my area of expertise at all but for one thing you'd need to register as either self-employed or a business. Not sure what the price on these guitars are but let's say they are £100 each. If you're selling 10 that's £1000 worth of revenue which is a bit more than simply flogging a couple of DVD's on ebay or at a car boot sale. I'm sure someone else will give you the answer you seek. I would highly recommend doing a search for retail. VAT etc. will most likely be considerations. But in terms of just selling a product...provided you've bought something from a wholesaler and they're ok with you selling it to the general public you shouldn't need any kind of license. Food, alcohol, insurance etc. all becomes a different kettle of fish of course

No problem in the slightest.It's just business. You'd just have to pay tax on the profits and register as self employed if you intend to carry on your venture (with guitars or anything else).
