Also you can use recycled printing paper, bio degradeable pens, biodegradeable rubbish bags, chemical free office cleaning products, eco buttons for turning off computers to save energy if not in use but needed any time.

will think of more things soon.

We have just started a carbon program for retailers(being an epos company we get involved in allsorts).
Electric is one thing thats easy to monitor initially, the next stage is looking at packaging and recycling. Dont use poly bags look for a more eco alternative.

There is new legislation coming in in 2010 specifically looking at building carbon emissions due to Buildings giving off more cabon than cars in the UK. So it's probably best to start trying to reduce your footprint now. Plus in many ways you can save money.

The Big consideration for retailers is more locally produced product - think if it comes from China what technology was used to make the produce and how much energy used shipping it to the UK. If the product is more direct and local the environment has been saved significantly, plus your then supporting local manufacture and creating UK jobs.

Go green by using recycled paper and then recycling what you are using. Also recycle your used ink cartridges, use energy saving light bulbs in your offices and surge protectors to negate the electric discharge.
