I wish to open a gun shop and was wondering about planning requirements , anyone know if A1 is sufficient / correct ? or is a special application required ?
The Police are happy with the layout of the premises and will issue the necessary license once they are satisfied with the security , its the planning office who are my concern .
The shop will simply retail firearms and accessories to license holders , no live firing will take place.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks , I have seen that , I understand the gun shop owner applied for A1 which would have covered him but because they applied using the name Gunshop UK it was rejected purely on the councillors personal views on shooting ,hence it was kicked out, the reason I asked the original question is because one estate agent told me special planning was required but he was clearly against me opening a gun shop in "his" town.

Cant do that :) , no guns or ammunition can be sent direct to the public even if they have a license , they have to go to a local licensed dealer and you collect from them with your license, of course this service does not come for free, gun shops are one of the few high street shops that are not heavily affected by mail order / online selling.
