Hi guys,

Im pretty new to this seo marlarky so please dont flame me.

One of my main competitors on google, has 3 almost identical sites which gain most of their juice from link farms, site fuel and each other etc etc the articles are total non revelant garbage. do you think if reported google would frown upon these sites.

**removed, no outing please**

If so would it be abit cruel given the current climate to point the finger and get them booted.???:|

You don't know what value each of his links have. I can show you a site where I'm no 1 with 30 odd links and the person below me has about 20,000.

Let google worry about it, they have the resources and you don't :)

/you can't get anyone booted either - do you think youre the only person who reports other sites??/

It's not cruel. If someone is taking the position you deserve by using forbidden techniques, there's nothing wrong with you reporting them. that's why the report option exists :)

Make sure they really are using black-hat (breaking guidelines) before you point a finger.

Point 1 - Don't expect any swift action from Google. Google try and address issues algorithmically where possible, so it can take years to see an impact.

Point 2 - Stop looking at your competitors and complaining about what they're doing - you should be so busy with your own marketing that this is not an issue, because of already doing so well. Even if the competitor is penalised, there's no guarantee of your moving up at all. In fact, it sounds like it would not be hard for multiple competitors to beat you with the same method, so if one is removed, another could easily just replace them. Better to get your own house in order first. :)

Totally agree with getting my house sorted 1st. I'm the first to put my hands up and say ive not been doing what i should, but when you earning it's not on the top of your to-do list. Not mine anyway.

It just grypes when your trying to write original relevant content, keep a good blog etc etc to give a good repesenation of you bussiness and you come across tosh like that.

No worries, chuk - problem is, on the web there will always be people taking short-cuts, and even worse, lots of them will get away with it for a long time. If being beaten on some keyword searches is a problem, then hopefully it shouldn't be difficult to contract an SEO you can trust to put some work in for you.
