Let’s say for now the person renting the chair pays for their own public liability insurance. Does the owner who only owns the shop who does not cut hair or work at the shop (just rents the chairs out), in fact owner is hardly ever there…..will the owner still need public liability insurance or any other type of insurance required by law?

Kind Regards

My interpretation is the owner of the property needs the public liability insurance as customers will be on their property, but the hairdresser could have their own which protects them against their liabilities.

I see, but actions caused by self employed people on the property have nothing to do with the owner? Like for example person renting the chair cuts someone while shaving a client and the client then puts in a claim. Can the owner still be responsible for someone else's actions who is self employed?

No hence the liability insurance title the individual barbers.

The owner would be liable for accidents in their property such as falls etc.

You need proper advice though as it will be different for each circumstance.

Never trust anyone elses insurance!
You can learn this the hard way. Whatever they say ignore it or say it is of no value to you. there are probably holes all over it. just get your own.

Sometimes the landlord will have fire etc because he is the one in the poop if it goes up in smoke which is fine. But the liability is yours first so get your own.

Ok so it looks like its just best to have your own even if your the owner and never present and the property. Will see how much this cost from the previous link above http://www.just-hair-insurance.co.uk/ thanks.

Also for the owner to be sure person renting chair has liability insurance how does the owner go about this? Ask them to produce certificate??

Also how does the owner go about making sure every person that rents a chair is allowed by law to work in the uk? what are the main pieces of evidence that prove to the owner they are eligible to work in the uk?

Also is it possible to get a contract of service from the web/download? or a chair renting contact?

Kind Regards

We get these alot! if you are renting the chair then please do get your own insurance.

If you are on a self employed basis then yes you do need to have your own cover. The owner very well may have his own insurance but this wont cover you as employees. If someone comes after the owner his insurer may choose to settle but then come after you! or the customer may come after you direct. for the cost is it really worth the risk?

If you want a chat get in touch more than happy to go through this with you

Best Regards
