There is a facility in Google Web master Tools to actually change domains. This is what should be used as this will completely transfer all the link juice and history to the new site.

That I do know :) That has already been done.

Google is still showing some old URLs in SERPs which really shouldn't show however the 301 is only 2 weeks old, which is why I thought actively requesting the removal of the URL would help?

blue-widget.org.uk does not even appear in Google so really it makes no difference.

You haven't had your coffee yet have you :p

@1week if there are pages lingering in the index, do a quick backlink check on them because there is a fair chance they have links pointing at them. That being the case, have a look at the anchor pages and ask them to change the link to the new page. I would then remove them from the index, although 2 weeks is a little early for the 301 to propagate properly around the Google datacentres.

    Thank you.

The client did previously employ an Indian SEO company to linkbuild consequently there are loads of links from rubbish sites around the world so it would mean paying them again to remove / change the links to the new URL.

I would then remove them from the index
    - do you mean requesting Google to remove the URLs like I originally posted?

A quick check will show you the url, they might well be genuine links from sites, forums etc, where people have deeplinked to information.

No I checked when I first took on the client, most links are little more than flipped websites stuffed with links - there are no 'real' links apart from the half dozen I did after taking on the client which I am in the process of amending this week.

    Thank you again.

This is an excercise for me to note how long a 301 settles down in Google, I did think 2 weeks was a bit early for Google to resolve everything, I was considering the possible options available to me / client.

The last time I was involved in a 301 was a couple of years ago and I seem to recall it took about a month. It will be interesting to see how Google has changed since then.
