Hello,

We have a sister company abroad and we can not get the skills for an IT department, although there is one person there who does the most basic stuff. We already have a network set up, which she has "reconfigured" a little and it is not working as smoothly as it used to. We need someone who can tell us what we need, do help us remotely, and if something needs to be done in-site, explain her how to do it on the phone or by email.

Can you recommend any IT support company that could do this?

Thanks,

Eva

What sort of infrastructure do you have? Any IT support company worth it's salt would probably want to start off by reviewing your current infrastructure and providing advice on how well it will actually suite your current and future requirements.

This is exactly what we need. Someone who can review what we have and tell us what we need. The problem is we are based in a remote town in Tanzania. Nearly 2 years ago there was a very professional IT guy who set up the server and the network, which has been working fine until our in-house IT girl started messing with it; but this professional guy has left the country and I don't think he is ever coming back. My question is: how can a company check our set up, sort the mess this local girl has done and establish a proper IT department without ever coming here? Is this really possible? and if it is, can someone recommend a company that can do it?

We have 1 small and old data server and 9 client computers (desktops). The laptops don't join the domain, they only use the wireless internet. The speed of our internet connection is on average 1Mbps. We have 1 email account for the whole office (outlook Express) which is set up in 1 computer. All the computers are poorly maintained.

In the future we are not going to get more desktops, but the laptops should be able to join the domain (all laptops have Windows Vista and the desktops have Windows XP - that is why the laptops can not join the domain). We should have images of all computers and off-site back-ups.

We also want to be able to access (and use) the email account from any computer (email server?) and restrict the access to internet to some users (proxy server?).

We don't need a software to connect computers, such as Teamviewer, we need IT support companies who can help us to sort out this mess remotely.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm afraid that could end up being costly!

for example your not going to be able to remotely setup a proxy server?

and adding a computer to a domain could be done but will disconnect you when it's added to the domain and want re-starting

creating images can not be done remotely

you need

a lot of technical knowledge
a lot of hardware
and a man on the ground in where ever this place is

for hardware, do you have a computer/server that could be used as a proxy server?

is there someone in the office that know's enough to be able to be talked to over the phone (if that's a possibility)?
