Releasing hard disk space

Hi All,

I run a magento site at the moment and my SQL database seems to eat up a ton of space with all of the magento visitor and url logs etc.

Would anyone recommend just emptying this data or does anyone know a web programmer who can do a good cheap job of cleaning my data?

you can safely truncate most of the log tables and then disable logging if you want

dataflow_batch_export,
dataflow_batch_import,
log_customer,
log_quote,
log_summary,
log_summary_type,
log_url,
log_url_info,
log_visitor,
log_visitor_info,
log_visitor_online,
report_event

That part is what makes me twinge a little.

What would a nice chap like you charge for a quick tuning of a magento site?

our minimum charge is £80

however I can assure you this is pretty safe and standard stuff - do you have a staging/development copy of your store?

If not, you really should as that is exactly where you test out actions like this so you can be sure you aren't going to break anything.

I always found magento had massive space requirments! Not sure how you can cut it down because it uses SQL all the time
