Regus Serviced Offices - Any good?

always negotiate with them and they will reduce the price more than you would think
also read all the small print/t&c's. they have something called virtual office which is automatically applied for 3 months after you leave the office. its about another £600.
when you leave they charge you additional fee's to redecroate the office even though its still in the same condition.

My boss works in a Regus Office and he seems quite happy there (that's when he's not shouting at me
) j/k!!
I know that he only uses the actual office space, and not the receptionist support that they offer. I think it had something to do with them not answering the phone well and he lost a contract, so as he infamously puts it "never again!"
He does also complain about how expensive it is, but then I have to remind him that he's based at their most prestigious location (in Mayfair) so he should just shut up and get on with it! (I don't actually tell him that)
In all, I do think that they have great locations and the buildings they occupy are of a very high standard. Perhaps it's a problem with the admin they have.

Let me expand on some of our problems and why it is ''never again'' for us.
Had a serviced office for 12 months whilst obtaining a lease assignement. In that time letters went missing, invoices were constantly wrong, furniture promised never arrived etc etc.
When we left you are forced to take a virtual office for a period of time (in the contract).
In that time they sent invoices to our old room (up to 8 months after) and then tried to charge us interest for late payments.
The threatened legal action over a credit that was due to us (clearly had a minus next to it)
Took 7 months to get the original £3.5K deposit back for the room as they argued it would have to remain for a virtual officecosting £125 per month
Still not got the deposit for the virtual office
Answered the phone in various names and continued to put calls through to the new occupier of our old room.
Sent other peoples post to us and then tried to charge for this service
I could go on and on but very hapy day we left there and no have no ties with them whatsoever and never again

That's shocking!! I can't believe how badly it all went, I think you DEF did the right thing in getting the heck out of there! Like I said, my boss also lost a major contract as a result of the mis handling of a call.
I think one of the most important things in this business (esp if you are the provider of a service), is that if there's a problem which is brought to your attention, you need to fix it as quickly as possible and put the necessary steps in place to prevent it happening again. The clients needs/requirements should come first.
Even if the client leaves as a result I think it's important to try end the business relationship on a positive note as 'word of mouth' can influence how much business you may or may not get and it can also affect your Company's reputation.

He wanted office space in the most prestigious location he could find and Berkeley Square House in Berkeley Square, Mayfair was it. City Office offer Virtual Office and Serviced Office Solutions at various sites accross the UK and Worldwide.

I've got several friends and collegues who all rent serviced offices and they love them. Saying that they are all with operators who don't have any hidden charges.
My brother in law used Regus and was happy but that could be because he got a great deal and never used any of the services they charge a lot for. I've even got one of those virtual offices for my company. We used this internet agent called Complete Office Search - they knew exactly what we wanted and didn't waste our time with places that didn't work for us - all you need to do is send them an email or call them quickly and let them know exactly what you want and they find you what you need.
A friend of mine used another internet company to find space and got 100's of calls from everyone under the sun and just wasted her time sending stuff that would never work, but the guy I spoke to at Complete Office Search was great. Just Google them.

For a Start Up/SME there really is no need for a physical office, the costs can be prohibitive and the capital spent on actually building the business and finding customers. After looking around for an office i was so unimpressed (especially with Regus) i decided to keep my business in my spare room and go virtual, i can book meeting rooms whenever i need to impress clients and have a fancy address on my email/cards/stationary etc. I also get a virtual receptionist to screen calls and again this helps present a corporate front. I now have a team of staff who all work from Virtual Offices giving me a nationwide presence.
