registering with?

Hi please bare with me .. I am opening a business and need some help please.
I was just wondering what i mainly have to do.... like, I know i have to register as self employed, and register as an employer when i take staff on. what else? do i need to register the business with company's house? my business is NOT a limited company.
do i need to register anywhere anything to do with health and safety?
is there anything else major i have to do which i haven't mentioned?

As you are planning to be a sole trader you do not need to be registered at Companies House.

Health and Safety only applies when you have staff. You will find information here at their website.

There are many things to consider when starting a business but my own bit of advice is make sure you keep proper records. Any contact with officialdom is eased if you have a paper trail that shows what happened.
