Registering with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)

I have to register with the above body.
Do all companies have to do this now as we do so much online? also
Under what circumstances would the ICO refuse to allow you on their register?

You may well have to register, it depends on your business and what you do with personal information.

For telemarketing you almost certainly will have to register. I assume you will have peoples names/phone numbers - this is data. If you are ringing cold without knowing peoples names then aside from any moral/legal considerations, as soon as you write down someones name down on your notepad, you need a license.

On the plus side, the ICO wont refuse you. Its a form filling/revenue gathering exercise in the main and will cots you about 10 mins and ~ £35.
