Registering EAN/UPC to a product

I'm looking to buy some barcodes for some products I sell, the manufacturers have no intention of doing this, so I'm looking to do it myself.
After I have bought the barcodes from the reseller, what do I do to associate a EAN/UPC with a product? Do I need to then pay to register the product with that barcode?

No. Just use them on whatever site. And hope the reseller hasn't sold them to multiple people.
The reseller isn't going to register them in your name when they are already in his name.
If its amazon you are using them on be aware that amazon are cracking down on codes that do not relate to the stock or the seller.

Will be using them for Google Shopping, possibly market places but unlikely.
Found the reseller by search, and after asking one of my suppliers who they use, it turns out they also get theirs from the same place and the company seems legit.
So there's nothing else I need to do other than start using a barcode with that product?

If you buy from GS1 then you would enter the details in the barcode entry so you know what relates to what. Buying from someone else there's nowhere for you to enter. Except yourself perhaps if you want to do your own stock database.
I use a mix of suppliers barcodes (when available) and GS1 barcodes as needed.
