Hi everybody can someone help with a legal and moral dilima,

I have a ltd internet company and a business partner, I started the business and i am the majority shareholder, i want to register the company name as a registered trademark.

But I want to register it in my name as an individual, is this good business acumen? or a bad idea for a working relationship with my business partner. as I am already majority shareholder and and the website is registered in my name. Is it possible to register a ltd companies name to an individual?
what do other people do?
any advise would be gladly received.

Personal registration of trademarks depends on what you intend to do with the mark after it is granted. In some cases it is required as an asset of the business in others, a single director funds it. What does need to happen is an agreement on what is best for the business and with the full knowledge of the other shareholders and directors. On what you have posted, and I am aware this is a short version, it is not clear on why you want to register it in your name. As a company name is cannot compete with your Ltd company so has limited protection for you, if that is your reasoning behind the decision.
